I am starting a project to replace the balances and lifting hardware of my 20+ year old tilt windows. I carefully noted the stamped numbers on each balance. I have reviewed your helpful website carefully and have a good idea of the supplies needed. My balances are stamped (for example) 28HD and 28 HDB for the same window. (see photos) The "HDB" balance is about 2 inches longer that the "HD" balance. When ordering, your guide does not seem to recognize this difference in size? I want to be sure to order the correct parts. Can you please help clarify?
Here is a chart stamped sizes for all my windows

Thanks for posting. Your balances should be the same size. I have no idea why one is 2" longer than the other. I can't really say for sure if your window is a special case that requires a specially configured balance; only the original installers can say for sure. Based on the stamps, your balances should both be 29" long.
You list some other windows in your house. Are these all asymmetrically sized, as well? For example, the 36HD and 36HDB balances should both be 37" long. Can you confirm?
