Crank 39-025 ?

Question

1. To attach the crank case there are 3 machine screws that have to be screwed into the window. The holes for the bottom 2 match (those of your 39-025) but the hole for the upper screw is on the wrong side. See photo. It looks like 39-025 only has 1 hole at the middle of the top. My crank case has 2 adjacent places for a hole. But only the left place is punched open.

2. The hole for the top screw in the window frame does not match the upper hole on the crank ? given that the bottom 2 holes DO match. I had taken the old crank out of the window, and had ordered a new (incorrect) crank. The tenant offered to install the new crank, to which I agreed. He did attach the arm to the torque bar and presumably also the bottom screws.

3. I found the new crank hanging by its arm, with no screws at all and the window closed.

The puzzle is WHY can I NOT push the window open? something is stuck?but what ?

I think the easiest explanation for why the 39-025 didn't work is simply because it's not the right part for the job. The top hole being in the wrong position may seem like a minor detail, but it's indicative of other, possibly more important differences that aren't directly apparent. The biggest thing that comes to mind is the design of the link arm. Can you show me a clearer picture of your original operator's link arm? It's not visible in your photos and I will need to see if it's compatible with the 39-025.
