I am unsure of the type of windows we have; there are no identifying marks. The spindle (I don't know what else to call it) that goes into the handle and has a screw at the end is broken. It is the only part I need; I cannot find it anywhere. It is 2" long and about 1/8 inch diameter at the handle end.

Thanks for posting! This handle appears similar to our 39-114L crank handle. Take a look and see what you think.
That gear, however, is not supposed to come out of your operator, and cannot be replaced. If you're looking to replace it, you will have to replace your entire operator.

My part looks like it comes from a Truth Hardware entryguard dual arm operator. I could read truth on the part, there are two arms, and it looks like the drawings on their site. The thread at the end of the spline is broken (you can sort of see that in the picture) - I guess that is how I could remove it. What do I need to get to repair this. The color is brown.
