Crank change

Question

I would like to change to a folding crank as we just installed blinds that hit the current cranks. We have a total of 10 windows that we would like to change to the folding crank.

Hello, Mike. Looks like you have an EntryGard style operator by Truth. That means you can use our 39-107FK folding handle kit.

That said, there are good odds that it still won't give you clearance for your blinds. No matter how far down the handle folds, the operator still sticks out a certain minimum due to the size of the spline (that's the metal stem that the handle plugs into). It's not possible to reduce that and no company makes an operator with a shorter spline, so no matter what products you purchase you're always looking at the same minimum threshold. There's nothing you can do about that.

When it comes to blind clearance, in almost all cases you need to pack the blinds out so as to make room for the operator, not the other way around. Window companies don't care about blinds so they don't design their hardware to accommodate them. They make that the home owner's problem, unfortunately. If I were you, I would contact a professional to see if that's something they'd be able to do for you.
