Crank rebuild

A handy person from Cape Coral, FL says:
Hello,

I have a louver-style window that takes this type of crank, but is stripped. Unfortunately, whomever installed the tile around this window tiled right next to, and grouted over the edges of the crank housing and the screw heads. Is there any way to replace the "guts" of this crank (from the outside) without pulling the housing off of the window frame?

Thank you,

Bruce

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:

I'm not sure what type of operator you have now, but standard awning window operators are not made to be repaired. You will need to remove the complete operator and replace it along with the tile.
