Crank replacement

A quick learner from Deerfield Beach, FL says:

This house was built in the 1950's and I suspect this window is about that old. Enclosing pix of location of crank mechanism after I removed it and crank mechanism. The crank stem (not sure if that is correct term) turns with pliers but does not move mechanism up and down the teeth. Can this window be saved?

Please take a look at the 39-050 rack operator. This might work on your jalousie window. It looks a little different, but check to see if the dimensions and mounting holes match up to yours.
