Crank window hardware

Handy Person from Rhode Island
I have three of these crank windows with the hardware all rusted out (the home is right along the salty ocean). I believe I need the 16 inch dual arm crank to replace the hardware, but I also need to know what other parts I need to attach to the underside of the window itself. The part is so rusted that it is hard to see what is needed..

Thanks for reaching out to us. Could you be referring to our 39-143 awning operator? If so, I agree that the design is similar, though I can't quite tell if yours is the same design due to its damage. Assuming that it's the same linked folding arm design then I am concerned that the 39-143 might be too small. See our 39-140 instead, which measures 16" from "elbow" to "elbow." That measurement will allow you to decide for sure.

As for how it attaches to the sash, your window will use one of two brackets: either the 39-170 or 39-177. As for which of these your specific project needs, I unfortunately cannot say. They're just too damaged.

When it comes to projects like this where key components are this corroded, it is unfortunately going to take a little bit of trial and error to determine the proper replacement options.
