Hi Jack. Yes, it looks like the worm gear came loose along with the crank handle. When this happens, it means the entire casement operator is worn out and needs to be replaced. It's tough to tell what operator you need without seeing it removed from the window, with the end of the link arm in full view. But start by taking a look at our 39-216, or its opposite-handed version, the 39-217. Compare the listed dimensions with your old operator and see if you think this could work for you. For a new handle, see our 39-114L, and for a new cover, our 39-107.

I'm afraid these photos don't tell us anything new. Did you look at the hardware I suggested in my last post? I feel pretty confident they'll match up. If you don't think so, let me know where they differ and we can try to find something better.
