Custom Channel Balance Quote Request
Hello there!
Thank you for reaching out to us. This is a very odd stamp for the Series 770. We'd be happy to look into this for you but we'd like to see photos of an undamaged balance removed from the window along with any attachments or shoes that go with it.
I have no idea if the balance I selected is correct balance but it is the closest I found. I attached photos of the balance. I was tempted to just remove the window and weigh it but the one window in question is extremely hard to get out (and in someone's apartment) so was hoping you could go by the code. We're an old factory (Heinz) that has been converted into apartments so we have a lot of different windows sizes and even styles here. I'm guessing some were made custom to match the brick footprint but I'm not sure!
Thank you
Hey there, Emily isn't here today but I will do my best to assist.
Your analysis makes sense to me, given the construction of this balance. I agree that our Series 770 is a good match but there are a couple differences that could be attributed to a custom make.
The first is what we already know, which is the difference in stamp. In most cases I can use the old one as a reference for which modern option would work best, but in your case "4467" is a truly bizarre code. I don't know what that could represent at all. We will unfortunately need the weight of the sash, down to the ounce if possible.
Another detail is the cross rivet at the top. The Series 770 is traditionally installed at the top using a screw, but with that cross rivet I would wager that yours uses a hook of some kind. Can you verify that? It's very easy to install a similar rivet at the top of our balance, so we're happy to do that for you, I just want to be sure that it's necessary.
Upon weighing the window (Sash?) it was 59 lbs. I'm guessing that since there is 4 balances that I need 15lbs per? I'm not really sure how that works but I'm sure you do. 15-135 was the shoe that is a direct replacement.
As far as the hook at the top, they did have hooks but they had literally just chipped out the track (the plastic/vinyl) and hooked them on that which seems very odd to me. We screwed one in when we gave up trying to get the clip in so I think the one pictured would be fine (that is screwing it in).
Thank you,
Jason
Thanks for getting back to us. It seems there may have been a misunderstanding at some point. Reading your most recent response, I get the impression that your window uses two balances per side. Can you verify? If so, that's fairly uncommon; most windows only have one balance per side.
Uncommon, that is, but not totally unprecedented. I have come across it before and I think it is something that we can help with. We were also able to find records of the 4467DS stamp. This is a very unique calibration but we can have it made for you.
What I'll do now is email you a purchase link and price quote that will let you add 10 of these to your cart. These will be the Series 770 configuration but with the exact stamp as what you have now: 4467DS.
Please let me know if you had any questions and I'd be happy to assist you.
