Custom balance inquiry

Question

I have a window with spiral balances.  There are 2 balances on each side of the window (see photos).  The window weighs 44 lbs.  As you can see, the balances are 2 different sizes.  The larger is 5/8" diameter and has a red tip.  The smaller is 3/8" diameter but the tip has disintegrated so I don't know the color.  Both balances have a metal tube 33" long.  What Swisco part #s and tip colors should I order?

Thanks for reaching out to us. This is an uncommon setup you have here but we've seen it before. It looks like someone really tried to get the window to work and this was their solution. Just keep in mind that these balances aren't meant to work this way though that doesn't mean it's impossible; just that there are no tried and true rules for it.

If this is a tilt window, the balances could be the 3/8" diameter Series 900 and 5/8" Series 600. Unfortunately, there's no exact science to splitting the weight between two different-sized balances. You'll have to weigh the window sash and split the weight between the two sizes as best as you can.
