From what I can tell the replacement balance should be a Series 385 with a custom shoe. You can see the shoe, top and numbers in the attached photos. The window panel weighs 23 pounds. I will need two (2) balances. The length of channel to nearest 1/8" is 25 - 5/8". As I mentioned on the phone, the balances always seemed to have to much tension. It required a lot of effort to pull the window closed. Please let me know if you need any additional information. Thank you.
We can replace this balance, but it will have to be specially made. Our Series 385 will not replace this. Fortunately, your helpful pictures give us all the information we need to know.
One important note before I send you this special order link. You had mentioned your sash weight is 23 pounds, but that your balance always felt like it had too much tension. Your instincts were right; looking at my weight chart, your old stamp of 25-5 is specifically for sashes weighing 24 through 30 pounds, which is too strong. The balances we'll send you will be bumped down to the 25-4 stamp, which carries 18 through 24 pounds. That should be a lot better for your sash weight.
