Thanks for posting! The tooth is held onto the lock by a small post and a spring. To place it back in, you will need to hook it on the back end with the spring and then reinstall the tooth on the small post. You should install it in the correct position for either left hand or right hand, depending on what you're using it for. To mount it onto the door, always remember to depress the locking button so that the lock will come together.
