Dead bolt spindle

Question

Will this spindle work with your deadbolt lock 40-039 that's what I have and bought a new storm door but its a little bit wider.

I believe the 40-161 spindle will work with the 40-039 if you were to cut off the one one end to make it straight. However it will only give you another 1/8" in length.
