Do I have to take the frame apart?

Do I have to take the window frame apart to remove the operator? It appears the gear is striped. It won't crank in or out. I have the 13 1/2" one

Thanks for posting. I do not believe removing the trim should be necessary for these types of straight arm operators. The screws mount on the outside sill; they should be exposed when the sash is open. Let me know if you have further questions or issues.
