Door Handle Identification

Home Owner from Santa Rosa, Ca

I am afraid to take the handle off as I won't be able to lock the door. I'm hoping you'll be able to identify the part from these pics. I am a widowed home owner and am not particularly handy, so most likely would need help replacing this.

Can you help?!?

Thank you!

Thanks for posting, Carrie. This handle set is an older model that we don't exactly sell, but our 82-030 should replace it without issue and without no adaptation necessary. Just note that it has a 3-15/16" hole center spacing; you should measure your own to verify that it's the same. It should be but it can never hurt to check.

One final note: damage like this usually happens when the patio door's rollers are either broken or close to it. What's happening is that your rollers are probably hanging up or the wheels just aren't spinning like they used to, which necessitates extra force to open the door; continuous use of extraneous force will cause the base of the handle to crack, just like you're seeing here.

The solution to this is to clean and lubricate the rollers, in a best case scenario, or replace them entirely, in a worst case scenario. This can be a pretty extensive project though and is at least a weekend's worth of work. You may want to put it off until you're ready to tackle it. Just keep in mind that if you don't address it eventually, your new handle will inevitably break in the same way after only a year or so of use.
