I am having trouble with the lock bar during installation

Quick Learner
I just received a second replacement handle (#82-055K) that I ordered. The first install didn't go well, so I had to order another one. Is there an instruction book that you can send for installing this? My issue is around the lock bar mechanism. I understand it has to be cut to fit my door, but I cannot seem to get it to fit into the cylinder and on the last one the lock didn't work.
Any help is appreciated!

Good Morning,

I am sorry you had trouble installing your replacement 82-055K handle set. Unfortunately we do not have any written instructions on how to install this handle set. I will try to help you with installation in this discussion.

On your first installation attempt did you cut the tail end of the key cylinder too short? If that is the case, when you go to install the new key cylinder try cutting the tail end just a little bit at a time. Each time you make a cut try to install the handle set to see if it fits and that the lock works.

If cutting the tail end too short is not the problem please respond with more details on what went wrong in your first attempt so that I may help you with the installation procedure.

I have been trying to install this again, and I believe the key cylinder is the correct size, and it seems to lock, however now I cannot get the key to come out of the lock. ?

Thank you

My initial thought is that the cylinder may have been installed upside down. Try to reinstall the cylinder with the key in a different position.

Before I take the handle out again, can you tell me if the teeth of the key should be facing up or down?

Thanks

In most cases, I have the teeth facing upward. Installing the key cylinder should not be a very difficult process. Let me know if you have an questions regarding installation.
