Our lock is latched shut even after we replaced the part that seemed bent. Need help trying to get door open to replace the whole internal lock mechanism.

Hello,

Your handle set reminds me of the 82-086 Legacy set. Take a look and compare the specifications to your assembly.

I also agree that you would need a new mortise lock. Unfortunately, these locks are specifically made so that you can't pry them open when they're locked, otherwise people would be able to easily break in. You could try using a slotted screwdriver in the slot where your broken thumb latch engages to try to disengage the mortise. If that doesn't work, I'd recommend contacting a local professional to evaluate your door since the lock assembly might need to be cut out.

Hi,
Local professional was unable to help me. I sprayed some WD40 and was able to pry it open. We need to replace the handle and the internal lock mechanism. The model you shared is not the same as what we have. I'm afraid it won't work. Is there a money back guarantee? Thanks

I'm happy to hear that you were able to get the door open. We do allow returns for this part within 30-days of purchase. You are welcome to look through our full return policy here.

If you could clarify why you think that the 82-086 might not work for you, we'd be happy to confirm if a better match is available. With that being said, the 82-086 does look like a promising replacement option based on your photos but you would need to confirm that the 3-15/16" hole spacing matches your assembly.

We would also need to see photos of the mortise lock where the hook extends to compare to our inventory. Thank you.
