Door latch doesn't work

Home Owner from San Diego
1. Inside handle's wobbly - after I tighten screws after few times opening door gets wobbly again.
2. It wasn't latching so I added some shims awhile ago to the part in the wall so it would stick out more to catch the latch. This morning it's not latching at all it won't lock. feels like to mechanism of the locking part on the door isn't springy anymore.
what do I need to do?  also it's become very hard to open. How do I take the door off (it's very very heavy) to see what rollers I need?
thank you

Hello,

Your mortise lock resembles the 82-229. This is commonly used with the 82-030 handle set as long as the 3-15/16" hole spacing matches your assembly. If the door is hard to open, you may want to check the rollers and track for damage or debris. This can cause additional strain on the handle when opening the door, which could be why those parts are breaking. See the videos related on this page to help you through the process. Thank you!
