Door receiving channel/weatherproofing

Quick Learner from USA
Below is an image of my sliding glass door with a pet door installed. I'm hoping to get a new receiving channel or some other method of allowing the door to lock and be weatherproof. Right now there's a gap between the door and the pet door insert, which is much worse when the locking mechanism is re-installed on the pet door side. What is the recommended method to seal this when the door is closed?

Thank you for your patience during this busy holiday season. Most patio doors like this have weatherstripping installed on the edges that seal the gap and prevent cold air and moisture from leaking in. Unfortunately, I cannot determine what your door uses from this photo. The only way we can ID a match is to see a sample of the original removed and with its end profile visible. Please let me know if that would be possible. The video below will clarify exactly what I mean.

I'm also not sure what a receiving channel is in this context. Sliding patio doors lock when you throw the thumb lever on the handle, which extends the mortise hook into a keeper in the jamb. Does that sound familiar? If not, can you show me how the door locks now?
