Double Hung Vinyl Window parts

A handy person from Tonawanda, NY says:

Hi, l just purchased a house that has 2 double hung vinyl windows that don't work. Upon examination the tilt latches on both sides are broken and the pivot shoes on both sides are also broken. I can not find the balance springs but they must be there because one on the pivot shoes does retract up.

Can you help?

As a follow up to my last inquiry I found that the balance is a spring coil that is connected to the pivot shoe. Please see the photo.

The bottom sash of the double hung window weighs 12 pounds.

Thank you,

Gary

Casey from SWISCO responded:

Hello,

Take a look and compare the dimensions of our 15-175 pivot shoe, which uses the S152 coil spring, to your original hardware.

As for your tilt latches, you can start by comparing the dimensions of an undamaged latch to the 26-243 and 26-244, paying close attention to the 3/16" backset of the locking tab on the bottom of the latch. Thank you!
