Double Hung Window Counter Balance Springs

A home owner from Wappingers Falls, New York says:
I am living in a condominium community that must have uniformity regarding outside appearance. The windows are 1971 aluminum frame plain glass windows. The video you posted was exactly what I needed to understand how to remove and insert the springs.

Do you have a video explaining the spring replacement for the upper windows? The number embossed on the spring assembly is 2030. Since the windows are over 40 years old I am considering replacing both lower and upper springs on the six windows I have.

Please recommend the correct spring assembly for the windows I have.

Thanks for posting! removing the balances for the top sash isn't too different. It should be the same principle. As for what balance you have, I'll need to determine first what that bottom shoe is. Between our 15-001 and 15-002, which is closer?

Thank you for your quick response. I photographed the bottom shoe of the balance to help with the match. As I see the measurements, the shoe is 1.25". This is wider than the 1.125" 15-001 shown in your pictures. I used the 10" mark on the retractable ruler as the true end is distorted. Do you believe the 15-001 will work properly? Thank you again for your help.

Hmm... how about our 15-095? Do you think that could be a closer fit?
A home owner from Wappingers Falls, NY says:
I had to determine the view of the 15-095 shown on that page. I do agree the 15-095 is a better fit allowing for sloppy positioning of ruler in my photo. I am not looking for parts. Please provide a web link showing the entire window balance assembly as some windows have nothing in the channel at all. I have them locked closed and supported by a piece of wood similar to a paint stirrer on the outside as they have no screens on them. Thanks again.

Tom from SWISCO responded:
Well, a balance with the 15-095 isn't a standard Series, so we don't have any pictures of such an assembly. It will have to be custom made.

Now, I can't guarantee that the 15-095 will work, keep in mind. It just appears to be the closest match that we have. If you want to go through with a custom order, then check out this Custom Channel Balance Order Form that I've started for you based on your specifications. This balance has a 21" metal channel and a stamp of 2030. Please double check your original hardware to make sure that that is correct. If so, you can fill out and submit the rest of the information and one of our representatives will get back to you shortly thereafter with a price quote.
