Double Hung Windows 1990 home

Quick Learner from Michigab
Channel has a metal center labeled "b 20HD."

Windows seem to function well but the color of the channel stands out from the white windows and we want to see what we can do.

The plastic (vinyl?) channel component is not solidly secured. It is very flexible and can be pushed easily toward the jamb. It does rebound and sit securely against. We're not familiar with this system at all so maybe this is how it's supposed to work?

There is an unsightly foam piece protruding from all the stops at the top of the interior window track. Maybe was the previous home owner's choice and not original?

Hello,

We may be able to supply your balances but keep in mind that we generally only carry replacements in the same mill color as your orinals. Past customers have painted the channels in a pinch if the color is the only issue. If you'd still like to look into replacements, we would need to see your channel balance fully removed from the window, including both ends and any fittings used for installation.

As for the plastic piece, I'm not sure which part you're referring to. If you meant the stop at the top of the window, it's possible that it may have become loose over time since they generally sit inside the channel. I'm also not familiar with the foam piece but I suspect it was put there to block any airflow since the stop sticks out of the jamb so far.

Thank you. I'll remove a channel balance.
