Double hung window insulation

Home Owner from Roswell, GA

I also want to replace the insulation on my windows while I have them apart. The house is 20 years old with double hung wood windows with vinyl compression jams and coil spring balances.

There are 20 windows and I need about 175 feet of the insulation. the insulation in it now has a 1/4 inch kerf bulb and is hollow. The tang that goes into the window is 1/4 inch long making the whole unit 1/2 inch tall. Should I stay with that or go to a foam filled insulation.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Hello,

Based on your photos and dimensions, our closest replacement option would be the 58-053 shown below. Note that the bulb has a diameter of 5/16" rather than 1/4" but your seal could have compressed a bit over time. Take a look and let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you!

Would I be better off with a hollow bubble, or weatherstripping that is foam filled?

Unforutnately, we do not carry a version of the 58-053 that is foam-filled. With that being said, a hollow seal should work fine considering that is what the windows used to begin with.
