Duralite Tilt-Window Coil Balance

Handy Person from Oconomowoc, WI

Overall length is 5 inches. Approx overall width is 1 inch Photo is of damaged Duralite tilt-window coil balance. Appears as though I will have to cut out part of the back slide pocket to remove coil balance and insert new balance

Thanks for posting, and for your patience during this busy time of the year. I am afraid I don't recognize this coil balance system at first glance; it's a pretty unusual design. I am forwarding this discussion to one of my senior colleagues, and we will get back to you as soon as we can with further thoughts. Many thanks for your patience.

I have located single, double and triple coil spring balances from WindowRepairSystems.com. I appears two 7lb L/R #01-411 single type coils balances should work if they can be used in this duralite window. I am handy, but a novice here. Any help is appreciated.
thank you

Thank you! I have searched the internet and cannot find a window coil balance like the ones I have in my Duralite windows. The windows were newly installed summer of 2018. I will try to contact Duralite factory.

Many thanks for your patience as we researched this. We don't believe your balance system is made today. I believe the window part you saw from WindowRepairSystems.com is the same as our S140-7, but the width on this system is 1-1/4" and you said yours is 1", so it will not fit. Instead, we suggest the 15-263 coil balance shoe with 15-260 dual support for the coil springs. The springs themselves will be S195-3 and S196-3 3 pound springs for your 6lbs replacement. This setup on each side of the window sash will total 12 pounds of support overall. You may wish to weigh your sash to confirm this is right. Let us know if you have further inquiries.
