Dyad Crank

Handy Person from Connecticut
I recently purchased a sash dyad crank to replace the old one. The screw holes on the old one were 5 inches apart so I ordered Product Code: 39-187. It installed easily but would not close completely. I realized after the fact that the old crank arm is roughy 4-1/2 inches long compared to the 5-inch long replacement. However I don't see a crank listed with a 4-1/2 inch arm. Is there such a thing or am I  doing something wrong? Thanks.

Hey there. Sorry to hear of your trouble. We've seen this come up from time to time. Unfortunately we don't carry a version of the 39-187 with a 4-1/2" link arm. We're not sure if it even is available anywhere. You do have a few options to make this work though. You could try installing the replacement as is to see if it works. Next, you could try repositioning the stud bracket to make up the difference. If all else fails, you'll have to swap the new and old operator link arm. You'd have to drill out the new and old arm and use the 62-014B rivet. To install this rivet, you'll have to hammer it in; I recommend doing it over a metal plate if you have one.
