Dyad window crank

A home owner from Rancho Murieta, Ca says:
I recently purchased the 39-187 to replace my old window crank. I think I should have ordered the 39-089, but there still seems to be a slight difference. The secondary crank arm on mine seems to be shorter than the 39-089. My secondary arm is 3 1/2". Do I need to change to a different stud bracket also?

Bob from SWISCO responded:

Thanks for writing in. I agree, this looks more like our 39-089; the gear arm looks more like a 'Z', whereas in the 39-187 the gear arm has an extra bend making a 'W' shape. Now, as far as the shorter link arm goes, you have two options. The first is to move over the sash bracket to compensate for the difference. The second choice is to drill out the link arm from both the new and old operators, then to install the old link arm on the new operator with a 62-014 rivet. Let me know what you think.
