Emtek 322 Replacement

Quick Learner from Bartlett, IL
I have a Sears storm door with an Emtek 322 latch assembly. I was looking at your part 40-049 and the discussions about it.

All of the dimensions look to be the same on the edge and the inside but the outside plate has an overall height of 8 7/16" and mounting hole center of 7 15/16".

I've attached a picture for your information.

Do have any insight on whether your 40-049 will work?

Thank you,
Ron

Hey, Ron, thanks for contacting us. I have know of customers in the past that used our 40-049 to replace Emtex locks. I can't guarantee that it will work, but it's definitely the best place to start.

Here are some things you can do to feel more confident in your choice. First, check to see if the mortise lock matches up to yours. You may want to remove the mortise lock to make sure it lines up with the 40-049's measurements. You may need to drill new holes to install the handles, but hopefully you can cover the existing holes in your door.

I had this exact emtek 322 to replace. I ordered the swisco "Product Code: 40-049 Complete Mortise Lockset, Brass".

A few install notes:
In my case the door was slightly too thick, that means the key cylinder was a bit sunken from the exterior side. It would be nice if there was a way to get a replacement that's slightly longer. Additionally, the dead bolt itself is set at a slightly different height between the two. the swisco strike plate will require you to cut larger slot into the door frame. Just reuse the emtek, it should work for both.
