Extended-Travel Channel Balance Quote

Quick Learner

Hi, I am Jon I work at F.E. Warren Air Force Base. I have several broken channel balances all of different lengths, but for now I am looking to replace one length. I am having trouble finding these in my area. I found you on the wed and hope you can help me get these replaced. The channel length looks to be 23-1/2". it is a 1/2" channel the stamp on the channel reads 23DS BSI DB 44. Right now we are looking to purchase 4, but if this works we have allot of broken window balances

Hi, Jon.

We can help supply these balances but it will have to be a custom order due to its configuration. Before we proceed, can you show us a picture of the metal clip at the end of your cord? Once I see that, I'll be able to draft a price quote for (4) of these balances.

Thank you!

Hi Emily
I really don't know if I need an extended travel balance. The window jambs have a stop in place on both sides that cover the take out clips and prevents the windows from opening to their fullest. I have added more photos, hope this helps. I kind of think that the S390 might work.

Thanks Jon

Thank you for the additional photos, Jon. This is just what we needed. I'm afraid none of our stock balances will work for you. What you're showing me in your first batch of photos is one of the main reasons this has to be custom made: the pulley wheel is literally built into the shoe, rather than the metal channel itself. In addition to that, the cord has an extended travel and even the metal channel itself differs from any stock option we carry. Rather than being measured on a full inch, your metal channel is 23-5/8" long.

The issue when trying to use a stock balance to replace this is that if you were to use a 23" version, both the metal channel and cord would be too short and the sash wouldn't be able to close. Meanwhile, a 24" would be too long, and you'd run into the same issue. Let me know if this makes sense or if you had any other questions.

With that said, I'm going to email you a custom balance purchase link and price quote for (4) of these balances, which you can use to place an order on our website.

Just one important detail to note, the manufacturer no longer makes these balances with a non-winged top and non-winged bottom. So these new balances will have wings on bottom fitting, but they'll still work the same way. I just wanted to give you a heads up so you aren't surprised when you open the box and see it.
