In the meantime, can you verify the length of the metal channel? It ought to be 35-5/8", not 35-1/2".

The metal channel is a bit more than 35 1/2", not quite 35 5/8". I didn't expect 1/16" or even 1/8" difference would be significant for functionality; I'm sure 35 5/8" would be fine if everything else is correct.
