FLAT SPLINE

Quick Learner from Santa Fe, NM

I'm looking for a FLAT SPLINE WITH A FLANGE, which goes at the Non-Opening vertical edge of my glass patio door which opens. If I'm USING THE WRONG TERM FOR THIS WEATHER/CRITTER MATERIAL, PLEASE TELL ME THE CORRECT TERM, SO THAT I MIGHT FIND IT. This is probably from the late 1970s into the 2000s, & keeps out dust, leaves, Mice, Lizards & Bugs by having the Flange press against the seam where the Non-Moving/Non-Opening glass door side is fixed in place. I attach 4 illustrated images of the thing in situ & hope they're clear enough to get an idea of what they look like -- It seems to press tightly into the recess on that long edge of the opening slider which meets the non-opening door to plug the gap between the 2 doors - made of stiff rubber/plastic. I cannot find it at either Home Depot or Lowe's. I hope the images clearly depict this type of spline - or if it's called something else, please advise.

Many Thanks & Best regards to the entire world of people who know how to fix things and WHERE TO GET THE MATERIALS, like my dad & uncles who grew up during the 1920s through 1950s!!!

Thanks for reaching out to us. It looks like you need a sliding screen door bug flap. Take a look at the 59-054 and 59-058.. Both bug flaps have a "flange" approximately 1/2" wide that rubs up against the stationary patio door. These flaps have "tear" strips so you can custom fit the width of the flap to rub up against your patio stationary door. The difference between the two flaps is the "kerf" that pushes into the back end of your patio screen door to keep the flap in place. The 59-054's kerf is 11/32" wide and the 59-058 kerf is a little wider at 13/32" wide. Review the specifications and see if you think one of them could work for you.
