First inch very tight

A quick learner from Florida says:
Unique

I recently installed a pair of S380 channel balances from Swisco.com. The installation went well, and the balances are ALMOST working properly. The bottom one-inch of movement, up or down, is very difficult. Once I clear that, it's very smooth.

The markings on the prior balances read UNIQUE 28-B-20, and I measured the metal portion of the original balance to be 29".

Did I get the right ones?

Paul from SWISCO responded:
Hello! It doesn't sound like an issue with the balances. I would check the window track to see if there is a kink in the frame that's rubbing the sash for the first inch or two. Sometimes the weatherseal hangs up in the sash and can cause a similar problem. Also check the interlock between the top and bottom sash for any dents that might be rubbing it. Finally, apply some silicone spray to the track and see if that helps.
