Follow up to Order No 1270437

Quick Learner from 45322

I spoke with an agent by phone and mentioned an issue with the 15-015 pivot that does not have a CENTER slot for the spiral balance shaft.

The 15-015 was what was recommended by you contact based on his observation that the original pivot shoe looked to be 17/32" thick and not 5/8" (15-047).

I received my order of 24 15-015 and am not confident these are the correct part.

The photo attached in this message shows the old and replacement part.

The agent consulted with another and suggested that I could still use the 15-015 angled slot, but I am not sure.

The photo shows the spiral balance shaft inserted in the new part, but the angle of the shaft to the center hole attachment at the top is not vertical, suggesting a potential bind in the operation of the sash.

Can you please advise me to tell if the 15-015 is what I need or whether I should use the 15-047 pivot shoe?

The 15-047 looks to have a center slot for the balance shaft.

If your old shoe is 17/32" thick, then the 15-047 won't work for you. That's way too large at 5/8".  It also has a rear break, unlike the 15-015 and your original shoe, which each have a side kick-out break.

In my experience the spiral balance can install in any of the slots of the pivot shoe. I've been recommending the 15-015 as a replacement for your original shoe for years and have never ran into any issues. Have you tried it out in your window yet?
