Forever Door Inside Handle?

Question

Have ordered the 40-150 and then I wondered if this latch will work with a round knob as opposed to a push knob button or a level. I believe this door was installed in 1988, and there was not a lever in sight at that time! The spindle connecting the inside latch and the outside
seems to be a 5/16 hex. Door is 1.5 inches thick.
