Front Door Weatherstripping

Handy Person from Boxborough, MA

Hello

Our house was built in 1977. We need weather stripping for the front door. I am sending a photo of a broken area of the current weather stripping. There are many areas where the flap has broken off. I do not want to remove what we have until I find a replacement, so do not have a photo of the portion that goes into the slot.

The distance of the base from the edge to where the flap begins is 1/2". The flap (which is flat, but has spring) is 3/8". I hope you have a weather stripping that will work.

Sincerely

-Alida

Hello, Alida. Thanks for your patience during this busy season. Unfortunately, I cannot identify what you have based on these photos. Based on the age of the door, there's a good chance that your seal isn't made anymore. It's possible a modern seal can be used as an alternative but that's not something I can gauge without seeing the original.

I know you said you don't want to remove a sample before you have a replacement in hand, but right now that won't be possible. We just don't have enough of a reference to make a recommendation.

I am sorry for the inconvenience.
