However, in my garage I have no balances per say, they look like friction blocks. I have attached two pictures, one of the top of the block, the other of what appears to be an opening to remove the block. I

You have an old Certainteed window. The pivot shoe and tilt bar look okay. You just need to replace the 3/4" wide coil spring. Our Series 170 may be what you need. All you need to do is match up the number printed on your existing coil spring to the options available for the Series 170.

So, how do I get to this coil spring. Do I twist the window out like my other windows (spiral balances) or do I raise the stop block and remove the window from there. Is there a video of this on your web site. Thanks, Will

We do, as a matter of fact. Check it out below. The balance featured in this video is a little different than yours, but the principle is the same.

I finally removed the coil spring from my garage window. I do not see any numbers on it. I have attached a picture. Here are some details. From the top of the window to the pivot point, it is 29 inches. The width of the steel is 3/4". The sash weighs 18#. Is this enough info to allow you to recommend 4 replacements? Thanks, Will

I received the coil balances and the new shoes for my garage windows and installed them over 4th of July weekend. They work like a champ. Your videos really help. Thanks.
