Getty crank

Quick Learner from Oakland, CA
Hi Swisco: As shown in the photos attached, I have an old aluminum Getty-brand window crank that needs replacing, as the gear is stripped at the end of the movement, making it impossible to close the window without pushing on it from the outside. (the stripped gear is not visible in the photos).

I was glad to see that your part number 39-044 appears to be the exactly correct measurements, brand name, and looks almost identical. Then I noticed that the replacement part appears to have been re-designed such that the curvature of the shroud is flipped.

I'm not sure if this is just a cosmetic difference, (which is fine with me - as long as it works), or it's possible that it's actually not the correct replacement part. Any advice?

Thanks for posting. Are you referring to the shape of the base? If so, that shouldn't affect its function as long as the dimensions all match up.
