Gorell window

Home Owner from Parma
Parts that have given up the ghost and I need to replace. It is a 6lb spring. It also looks like a 15-087. Also there is a adjustable screw mounted below the spring holder as you can see from the picture. Is that to hold the spring to the side. Thanks for your help.

I agree, the 15-087 looks like a good match. You may also need the 15-086, assuming you use two springs on each side, and our Series 180 coil balance if yours are broken.

That screw is actually just an adjustment screw for the jamb. It's not related to the balances in any tangible way. See the diagram below to get a good idea of how your coil balance system installs.

We have Gorell windows in our house. One of which has gotten very hard to raise or lower. We had the windows installed in 2006 and I believe the model # is SVDH-1. I was hoping you could tell me how to adjust the window to make it easier to raise the sash. All the rest of the windows work great just this one has become very hard to raise.

Thank you

Gene

If your window is harder to open then odds are you have a problem with the balances. These are not possible to adjust in 90% of cases, though, so replacement may be necessary.

At this stage I don't know enough about your hardware to advise further, though. The best place to start is with clear and unobstructed photos of the balance assembly so that we can check our inventory for a match. I can then advise further.
