Thanks for writing in. If the balance is 37" long, not including the end attachments on either side, then you're working with either a S380-37 or S385-37. The only difference between these two balances is the 'depth' of the bottom nylon shoe, so compare both with your old balance to see what matches best. 

Now, your stamp option is a bit interesting. The 'DS' stamp designates a 'dual spring' balance that typically is a custom order. However, if your window sash weighs 38.5 lbs, this comfortably falls within one of our existing stamp options: specifically, 3660, which is for a window sash in the weight range of 35 through 39 lbs. If your window does indeed weigh exactly 38.5 lbs, then I think the stamp option of 3660 should work for you. Let us know if you have any questions.
