Hello, Randel. Your balance appears to be a close match to our S795-27. The only thing I'm not sure about is the stamp. Our balances use a slightly different rating system compared to yours. The old "26-5" stamp may match our modern "27E," but I suggest that you weigh your sash on a scale to verify. You can see a chart on the S795-27 store page that tells you exactly how much weight each option carries.

Thank you ... the sash weighted 24 pounds so appears that S795-27D would be a good replacement.

Perfect! I'm glad you checked. The installers must have only had the stronger spring option on hand and installed that anyway. If you ever noticed that your windows were a little too tight to close, that's the reason why. 27D should be perfect for a 24 pound sash.
