It looks like part of this is broken off? The door does not lock on the keeper as the parts that lock in do not go high enough, not sure if that makes sense! I am wondering if it is because this is broken/missing a part.

Look at the 82-240 latch lever used on the 82-080 handle set. This looks like the part you are looking for.
