I started by attempting to replace the sliding door handle for an elderly friend. She wanted a keyed lock on the outside and purchased the handle. My first mistake was letting the latch drop down into the door. My second mistake was drilling new holes to make her new handle fit. I won't work. Please help.
The mounting holes for the handle are 4" apart.
I would like to purchase the correct handle for this door with a keyed lock on the outside.
Thanks, Mike

Hey, Mike. If the mortise lock fell in the door then odds are it's our 82-218. Does this look familiar? Review the dimensions we show for it to confirm that it will fit in the space available. As for the handle set, my recommendation is the 82-030 along with an 82-310 key lock (sold separately). You mentioned that the hole spacing was 4", but in all likelihood it's 3-15/16", which is fairly standard for this kind of door. The 82-030 is a more modern version of the old handle set and is fully compatible with the 82-218. |
