Thanks for posting! The description of your issue leads me to believe the window operator may be stripped. That isn't something that can be repaired so you'll need to replace the entire mechanism.

This operator has a similar design to the 39-188 Sash Dyad Crank. Like ours, it has a 'w' shaped gear arm. You'll need to carefully review and compare the dimensions to confirm that this is the right fit.
