Having trouble installing the 83-115 Pella screen door latch

I removed the latch to put the new one in and the new latch will not work when i install it. I put the old one back and it work like it suppose do. The new latch does not spring back on the latch and the square does not line up.

Good morning! Thanks for posting. That's weird, I've never heard of this problem before. Pella hardware is usually pretty unique, and any differences between two parts would be very noticeable right off the bat. I'm not sure what the issue could be.
To start out, could I see a few pictures of your old latch side-by-side with our 83-115? Could I also see a picture or two of the handle on the door?

Well, it looks like your original is broken, but assuming that its hook is the same I don't really see that much of a difference between the two. I am not sure why yours isn't working. How does the square not line up? It appears that it should. Are you sure you're installing it the right way up?
