Hello, I am trying to replace a sliding door latch with a key lock on the outside of the door.

8 years ago SWISCO posted a video on YouTube using Parts numbered 82-035 for the handle, and 82-309 for the lock set. I would also need a Keeper. Here is a link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLDlEvWIcbE

I'm including photos of what I currently have on the door and also the photo of the parts from the video.
When I searched for those parts on your website they did not turn up. Do you have something that would work for my sliding door? Thanks!

Hello, Mike. Both products you mentioned have unfortunately been discontinued in the years since that video was first uploaded, though we do have modern equivalents that work the same way. However, none of them will work on your door.

The problem with your door is that when you remove the old lockset, there is a huge rectangular shaped hole left over where it installed. This renders handles like the old 82-035 (and our modern equivalents) useless, since they won't be able to install.

You are pretty much stuck using the same type of lockset you have now, unfortunately. It's one of the reasons I always hate working on these doors. You're just so limited when it comes to replacement parts, and since they're an older style those parts can be hard to come by.

All that said, reviewing your photos and the design of the old hardware, I believe our 82-002K can work for you. This is a keyed lockset with a hook latch in the lower most position. I do believe it will work on your door and has a keyed exterior handle. This is probably going to be your best bet.
