Help Identifying what may be the issue with Handleset

Question

Product code: 82-087 in Brass, was purchased as a replacement to a former handleset that was experiencing issues where the key would get stuck in the door after being locked and would not come out. Upon installing the new 82-087, the same issue is occuring where the key gets stuck after being locked. Do you know what the issue may be? Photos of the current Mortise lock have been attached. One of your Customer Service Reps thinks that the mortise lock may be the issue and is in need of a replacement. Please assist. Thank you

Thanks for writing in! I'm sorry to hear about the error with your order. The issue you are describing does sound like it is an issue with your mortise lock. To be absolutely sure, I suggest taking a slotted (flat head) screw driver and trying to throw the lock manually.

If it works fine, you may need to remove the key lock and try reinstalling it. We find that these can be extremely temperamental and if they are askew in the slightest way, that can cause an issue.

Once you've tested these troubleshooting methods, if you find no issue with the mortise but are still experiencing the problem, please let me know.

All that said, the mortise lock you have here appears to the 82-227 Mortise Lock. Carefully look over the dimensions below and compare them to be sure that this is the correct fit.
