Hi,
I'm installing a new pane using the 57-102 clips, and have an orientation question. The window I'm repairing didn't have a consistent orientation, so I'm not sure the correct one. Is the attached photo showing the correct orientation or is it upside down? Even on the web, orientation is mixed.
Thanks,
Help installing the 57-102 clip

Hello,
I normally install the "straight" leg into the hole in the window frame. I believe the "offset" leg prevents putting too much pressure on the glass. With these old steel sashes, it's best to back bed the frame with some caulking or putty to set the glass into the frame. In some cases I've squeezed the glazing clip before installing it to take some of the pressure off the glass.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for responding. I was able to install the clips and glaze the window, and it looks like I did install them correctly with the orientation you recommend. The clips I bought were pretty stiff and I compressed them prior to installation to reduce the pre-load.
I did run a thin bead of caulking to lay a cushion down between the glass and frame as there were a few uneven/rough spots and the caulking would help reduce stress points.
Thanks,
