Help repairing Pella window

Question

I have 50 year old Pella double hung windows. One window refuses to open. I moved into the house 2 months ago. Had to replace 2 windows due to rot. I would like to repair this window as I cannot afford to replace it. Hope you can help

I'd be happy to look into this for you. Sounds like a problem with the balances--these are the spring loaded mechanisms on either side of the frame that keep the window up when raised.

In order to give you a better analysis, I'll need photos of the balances in question. Would that be possible? We can then work from there to find you a working option, if one is available.
