Help with Pella Screen Door Spline

A home owner from San Diego says:
I have a 36 inch Pella sliding patio screen. The screen needs replacing, which I have done many times on other screens, but try as I may, this spline is impossible to get out, and it looks smaller than the ones I've used before. Any suggestions.

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:

What I normally use when pulling out old screen spline is to use an ice pick or a scratch awl like the 75-029. Take note on older style wood Pella screen doors they used a square-type vinyl spline that you will need to reuse. There is no replacement for it, so be very careful when removing it.
