Help with a latch for a forever door

A quick learner from New Jersey says:
I have attached a photo of the original handle. As you can see it comes back pretty far. The handle purchased was done in a few months back. 40-145. The order is 1185854. The shim needs to be on the handle not the latch. I am not over there now and hate to keep taking the handle apart as I do not want to strip out the screws. I believe a shim would solve this issue and have everything 100%.

Forget the strike plate that is not my concern. I need a shim like that but to go between the door and the handle. It should have 3 holes that line up with the 2 attaching screws and a hole for the square rod that rotates when the handle is turned. This seems to be a very common door and a very common problem. I'm sure it's been figured out.

Thanks for writing in. I'm sorry, but we don't carry a shim like the one you're looking for. We used to have one for the latch, but it was discontinued. Your best bet will be going to your nearest hardware store to see if they have what you need. Sorry we cannot be of more help, and many thanks for considering our business.
