Help with replacing my shams
My window sash measures 1.5" tall, 5/8" (a bit over that) wide with the very top part being 0.75" wide and 9/16" deep.
What is a suitable replacement?
Thanks
Norman
Hey there, Norman. It really depends on the installation hole placement, so start your search with taking a look at our 18-166 top sash guide. Let us know if your measurements match up. If they're different than what we show, get back to us with your measurements and we will continue looking for another alternative.
I replaced my sashes with the 18-166, but they quickly wore out after the installation handling. In setting the window back into its spot after I screwed in the sash guide, and GENTLY trying to lower the window, the sash guide failed to catch the balance. After a few more tries, I noticed that the part of the sash guide that is supposed to catch the balance was worn off or broken. In essence, my window is in the same condition as before I attempted the repair.
I lubricated the balances in the process of the repair.
Is it possible that I might need a sash that is deeper, that sticks out from the window farther so as to catch the balance better?
Before we get to answering your question there, let's have you get back to us with the measurements of your current top sash guide. Provide us with the width, height, and depth of the part and we will go from there.
They are listed in my opening thread.
1.5" tall, 5/8" (a bit over that) wide with the very top part being 0.75" wide and 9/16" deep.
Thank you for the additional information. How about taking a look at our 18-009 top sash guide as maybe a better option. The height is shorter, but the mounting holes and depth seem to be very close to yours. Look over and let me know what you think.
